Youth leader training

Training youth leaders to handle the Bible well

Youth leader training is multi-faceted, complicated and is carried out by many organisations - both in Hungary and the UK. ACORNCAMPS' particular focus and passion is to train youth leaders to be able to understand and teach the Bible faithfully, clearly and relevantly.

Our autumn training aims to be accessible to any Christian involved in serving their local church but has a clear focus on teaching youth. The training is practical with teaching sessions, workshops and group work. Each year we take a book of the Bible which will be the focus of our talks during the following summer. We look at the particularities of how to teach that particular genre and then examine the book itself. This year we will be studying The Gospel According to John.

2018 Training

  • Date: 23-24 November 2018
  • Location: Vác Baptist Church, Hungary
  • Who for: Pastors & Youth leaders
  • Topics & Talks:  How to understand and teach John's gospel? / How to lead a discussion group better? / Talking about relationships from the Bible

Each year there have been around 40 people coming through an autumn training series, both individuals and groups from a church. In autumn 2018, the format will condense several Saturdays into one weekend, and the prayer is that this will enable more people to attend the whole programme.

The sessions are taught by members of the ACORNCAMPS team together with visiting speakers from both the UK and Hungary. 2017 afternoon sessions saw a series of ‘TED Talk’ style slots, each providing bite-sized input into various areas. Topics included:

  1.  How to ask good discussion group questions
  2.  How do you teach on a theme using the Bible?
  3.  Teenagers in today’s world
